Plaza de España

The ‘Plaza de España’ is a large, open square located just outside the city centre, with plenty to see and do. By far the most iconic square of Seville, you can find the ‘Plaza de España’ within the verdant Maria Luisa park (parque de Maria Luisa), approximately 10 minutes walking from the city centre. As one of the city’s main tourist attractions, no stay in Seville is complete without at least a brief visit to this magnificent square. Within the square resides the old site of the Ibero-American Exposition in 1929, and an outstanding example of eclectic architectural styles. The main building wraps around the square in semi-circular fashion and is connected to the central fountain area with four brightly colored, mosaic-tiled bridges. There is also a small moat that winds around the square. You can even hire out a boat with your friends and row around in the Andalusian sun as you take in the impressive surroundings.
