The Bolsa Palace (Palacio da Bolsa) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site stock exchange building, which was constructed in the 19th century. While this doesn’t sound glamorous at first glance, the Bolsa Palace is a grand structure which features the work of many artists who painted the interior. The exterior of the building gives off an air of grandeur and wealth, but the interior is truly a sight to behold. As a result, it’s strongly recommended to book a guided tour in advance of your stay in Porto. From elaborately decorated columns to patterned walls and windows, the building is a work of art in itself. The standout feature of the palace is a courtyard with a giant octagonal glass ceiling, with a cascade of painted emblems and curving columns underneath. Even the floor is magnificently tiled with mesmerizing patterns. On top of this, you’ll find extravagant chandeliers, majestic staircases and large entranceways.
