Situated in the charming Parisian district of Montmartre, the basilica known locally as Sacré-Cœur was built in dedication to the sacred heart of Jesus. A majestic basilica sporting three large dome-like spires, and an impressive facade, a visit to the Sacré-Cœur is highly recommended. Made in the Roman Catholic style, the basilica is quite the monument in Paris, especially given that it can be seen clearly in the distance from other iconic monuments, like the Arc de Triomphe.
This makes it a great place to go to survey the city from above, if you scale the basilica, you will be treated to panoramic views over the French capital, including by far one of the most iconic monuments in the country: the Eiffel Tower. The interior is also worth perusing, as there you will see one of the largest mosaics in the world. There is also a meditation garden and fountain in the grounds of the basilica where you can spend a peaceful moment or two.
